On March 14th, 2025, the “életmű” (‘life’s work’) exhibition of sculptor and medalist Márton Kalmár opened in the famous Reök Palace in Szeged (in the city center of Szeged, next to the central university building on Dugonics Square, at the 3rd Hussar Regiment monument).
The artist made a medal of Béla Balázs, which, if this one medal had been the only one he had ever made, he would still have been included in the golden book of Hungarian medal art. He also made a medal with his friend Mihály Fritz, with whom he had a lifelong friendship, their careers ran side by side for decades, even at school and at the Academy of Fine Arts.
In addition to his sculptures and graphics, the exhibition also shows these medals, which were made in the ÉremVerde workshop of master goldsmith Géza Szabó.
